Jon
Bell has been writing from his home base in Portland, Oregon
— and now Lake Oswego — since the late 1990s. Now
entirely freelance, he has been a business writer for the Portland
Tribune, an award-winning
reporter, assistant editor, and photographer for
the Canby Herald, and a contributor to such publications as
Backpacker, Oregon Coast, Oregon Business,
The Portland Business Journal, The Rowing News, The
Home Building News and The Portland Physician Scribe.
His writing and editing repertoire now also includes marketing
collateral, web content, business correspondence, and all other
specialties listed on this site. To view some of his work, please

After
growing up in Mansfield, Ohio, Jon got a bachelor's degree in
history from Michigan State University, then traveled extensively
across the American West before landing in Portland. An avid
outdoorsman, his first published pieces were about some of his
backpacking and climbing excursions in the Northwest. He subsequently
broadened his writing experience
by covering public education, government, business, politics,
and people and places of interest for several different newspapers
and magazines.
